Case Study Re Roof of a Victorian tiled roof
Site: Brick Built Victorian end terrace
Issue: General wear and tear of roof. Tiles have reached end of useful life, becoming worn and easily dislodged by weather events. Roof tiles have started to sag and their weight over the years is now causing the supporting timber battens to bow and fail.
Solution: Operatives working from a safe working platform built from scaffolding. Remove all the old roof covering: tiles, battens, damaged felt, expanded foam insulation. Striping bact to the rathers.
Before beginning the re-roofing process, loft insulation was installed upto the latest building regulations recommendations.
Then new breathable membrane was installed along with tanalised fire resistant battens.
Finally finishing off with new tiles, leadwork around the chimney stack and a maintenance free dry ridge system.
